Rain Pavilion
Rain Pavilion is a speculative shelter that ruminates on the subject of elemental experience and rudimentary comfort. A curvilinear, gourd-shaped space encompasses a sleeping and bathing area, surrounded by a corrugated concrete wall. The cantilevered roof edge is supported by a column that doubles as the fireplace flue, and another column masquerading as a rainwater downspout. An ebbing sliver at the perimeter allows weather and light to create an ever evolving imprint onto the wall, which becomes the central visual and visceral experience.
